Low Bun with Side Bang Twists

You will need:
  • 10-15 Hair Pins
  • Hair Tie
  • 20 minutes (depends on how fast you twist)
  • Hair can be freshly washed or blow dried
  • Satin Scarf

  • *Optional: Trader Joe's Gel

In the pictures you will see, my hair is damp. Before doing this style, please make sure that your hair is moisturized. Since it is the summer time, prior to doing this style I moisturized with water, coconut oil, glycerine and bit of conditioner mixed in a spray bottle. I wet my hair down until it was damp and manageable.

      Step 1:
Section of a 2 by 2 inch section in the front -this will be your side bang.
      white stuff is conditioner

Step 2: Divide off another section on the right or left side of your head.

      Step 3:
Twist this section until it becomes a roll. I didn't twist it all the way to the end. I left some of the hair loose at the end so that it will disappear into the bun that we will create 2 steps later.

      Step 4:
Wrap the twist around to the back of the head and use a few pins to secure it.

      Step 5:
Use your hair tie to draw all of the hair (except for the bang) back into a low pony tail to the side. Create a bun using the pins to tuck hair under and away.
bun is a bit messy, i end up adding a few more pins to neaten it up

      Step 6:
Divide and twist the front section into medium sized twists. If you were styling your hair while damp, you may need to re-spray this section with a bit of water in order to make a bit more manageable again.
I did about 10 two strand twists

*Optional: Add a dime sized amount of Trader Joe's Gel to the side of your hair that has the large roll.*

      Step 7:
Smooth down your edges using your hands (to avoid thinning your hair line from over brushing).

      Step 8:
Tie your head with a satin scarf. Depending on how damp you hair was, typically I leave my head scarf on for about an hour.  This allows the hair to dry. If your hair is too damp after you have taken your satin scarf, frizz will definitely looms its head. Make sure when putting on your hair scarf to let the ends of your twists hang out so as to not smush any curls that may have formed on the ends.
